SkyHigh Designs
Week 4
4th March 2013

Priestmangoode Airline Project

The group decided that to encompass all of the ideas that we have been generating in the past few discussions and meetings we needed to put emphasis on the branding and the overall colour scheme of the of the company and to give it a proper airline name which would help to define the company and its location within the south american market. I tasked each group member to create a moodboard about south american culture so that when we were to next meet up on the 11th of March

Week 3

SkyHigh Designs
Week 3
26th Feb 2013

Priestmangoode Airline Project

With the research reports nearly completed from over the week we each discussed our findings and began to write down what the airlines had in common and what made them stand out from each other. We looked at service based systems and decided that when designing the airline and working on the drawings that we all focus on different aspects to have a more holistic approach when beginning at the Discover stage of the project, before getting to the Define stage and the group focusing more on specific aspects and ideas that we have generated.
As well as this we highlighted various issues, problems and personal experiences we have encountered or heard about and made a list.

 Problems:
1.      Seating uncomfortable
2.      Expensive food
3.      Limited leg room
4.      Queues at check-in
5.      Ticket errors and difficulty to collect them
6.      Boring magazines no entertainment
7.      Difficulty sleeping
8.      Ear popping causing discomfort
9.      Storage of on board luggage
10.  Storage of a large coat
11.  Neck and back pain

Once we had a comprehensive list that we could look back to for inspiration and idea generation we began to discuss solutions to the problems and ways that we could avoid the problem altogether. After the discussions we were assigned to each have 10 A3 drawings ready for the 5th of March as well as this a SkyDrive was set up to increase research sharing and group communication as well as a Facebook page which helps organising meetings, discussing issues and answering questions about the project.

Week 1 - 2

SkyHigh Designs
Week 1 - 2
19th Feb 2013

Priestmangoode Airline Project

We were asked to consider how a new airline needs to communicate with its passengers from branding and identity as well as looking at websites, apps and right through to the on-board service items such as meal delivery. We are asked to consider the boarding experience and how this might be speed up for the passenger. As well as this we were asked to look specifically at Brazil, Russia, India and China and consider the international market when designing the budget airline experience

We approached the group project by initially discussing our experiences and what others have told us. We also discussed what systems and features current airlines and budget airlines have in place. We considered the competition, the user market, the experience of the passenger and ways of booking a flight. Once we had established what areas to look at and focus on, we discussed strengths and weaknesses amongst the group and assigned specific roles in the design team.

As well as this to include primary research a questionnaire was written by Rebecca which will be distributed through the next two weeks
